Scott, in choosing either card would I have to download and install any drivers for them or would my windows 10 pro take care of this? Regarding the 3 wires hookups in my laptop, where would the black wire go to on the card? no 1 or no 2 connection? not sure if it matters where one of the other two antenna wire go however they are color coded? one is white the other is grey? On the Intel site another Wireless card is the Intel® Dual Band Wireless-N 7260 It is not AC though you might recommend this instead so I need your advice here that is why I have sent the other specs, however I prefer the one that would give me the best of both worlds in performance?.if you say go with the non AC could you find one in a link that would suit my laptop? I have attached some screen shots of the settings offered by the modem for both 2.4GHZ and 5GHz so you could please comment on the compatibility settings best for the replacement Wireless card? My Modem/Router is an Archer VR1600v AC1600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit VoIp VDSL/ADSL/Cable, which is connected to cable. (B) Sangean Digital Radio: Wireless 802.11b/g 2.4GHz (maybe this won't work with the AC?) (A) LG smart TV Super UHD 4K: Wireless IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac

Can't wait for Win 11 to see if full Microsoft support will solve both of these problems.Thank you very much for your reply and the link to the Wireless card, much appreciated!Īpologies, I have some more dumb questions,ġ: Does the 7260HMW card work on AC mode only in the 5GHz band or AC also on the 2.4 or does it switch over to non AC to accommodate the 2.4 band?Ģ: I have two other products that connect to the modem/router and not sure if the AC mode/settings offered by my modem to suit the AC card will affect their operation? here are their wireless specs: Turning off the IPV-6 protocol seems to have solved both problems. It also seemed to be changing the IPV-6 address and would not connect to some of the mapped drives on the network.

Update - I noticed that my computer would occasionally drop the Wi-Fi 6GHz and reconnect at the 5GHz. I downloaded a video from a computer with 2.5GBs hard wire connection to the AXE11000 and I got a sustained 1.4 Gb/sec throughput while the AXE11000 tells me my connection is 2268 up and down. I could not connect due to the AXE11000's security being set to WEP3 which seems like it is also not supported so after changing the AXE11000's Authentication mode to enhanced open, I could connect.

I did that and after restarting, my 6GHz SIDs showed up. After searching around to solve the lack of a 6GHz SID showing up to use, I found that Microsoft has not turned on the 6GHz support yet, but there were examples of editing the registry and adding a D-word with a value of 1 to activate the 6GHz band.

After the upgrade and installing the new drivers, I did not have my 6GHz band showing up, but my AXE11000 said the connection up and down was now 1200 and I was getting sustained throughput in the mid 800s. Overall Review: My notebook had an AC WiFi card and I usually connected at 433 up and down to the 5GHz band of my AXE11000 router with a throughput of about 330Mb/sec. Need to Edit the Registry to get the 6 GHz band to be usable. Pros: All 3 bands 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz.Įasy to install in my Asus Tuf FX505GT notebook computerĬons: Not the cards fault, Windows has not turned on the 6GHz band support yet.Īfter the upgrade, could not remove previously active devices to re-connect them.
